Gauhati HC Seeks Reply on Alleged Irregular Payments in Panchayat Works

The Gauhati High Court has issued a notice to Assam’s P&RD Department over alleged irregular payments to contractors under 15th Finance Commission funds.

Hearing a PIL, the court noted claims that 15 projects in Hailakandi were paid in full without verifying completion or engineer certification, with many works reportedly still incomplete.

Taking serious note, the bench has asked the department and contractors to respond in the next hearing.
