Assam Declares Public Holiday on April 9 for Assembly Polls

The Assam government has declared April 9, 2026, as a public holiday for the Assembly election polling day, following ECI guidelines.

All government and private offices, schools, banks, businesses, and industries, including tea gardens, will remain closed.

The holiday has been notified under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881.
