TMC finalises 22 candidates for Assam polls, stresses principle-driven strategy

The Trinamool Congress has announced 22 candidates for the Assam Assembly elections, emphasising a strategy based on loyalty and organisational strength.
Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev said the party avoided taking defectors from the Bharatiya Janata Party, focusing instead on building a stable and committed team. The approach was shaped in consultation with Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee.
TMC plans to contest in regions like Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Barak Valley, and across Upper, Middle, and Lower Assam. Campaign efforts will also focus on expanding presence beyond urban areas, including Guwahati.
The final tally stands at 22 after one candidate withdrew, marking the party’s phased expansion strategy in the state.
