Himanta Biswa Sarma Announces Major Projects for Majuli

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday unveiled key development plans for Majuli while campaigning for BJP candidate Bhuban Gam.

At a public rally, Sarma announced a medical college, ₹250 crore funding to upgrade Majuli University of Culture into a full-fledged university, and plans for a 2,000-seat auditorium.

He also highlighted a major erosion control project using geo-tube embankments to protect around 45,000 bighas of farmland.

Invoking the legacy of Srimanta Sankardeva, Sarma said the goal is to transform Majuli into an educational and cultural hub.

Targeting Congress, he accused past governments of neglecting Majuli and prioritising vote-bank politics, urging voters to back BJP for continued development.
