Himanta Biswa Sarma Rejects Congress Allegations, Calls Them ‘Fabricated’

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday dismissed Congress allegations against his wife as false and politically motivated.
Addressing a press conference, Sarma said the claims—raised by Pawan Khera and Gaurav Gogoi—about multiple passports, Dubai properties, and foreign assets were fabricated to influence election results.
He alleged that the documents used by Congress were sourced from a Pakistani social media group and involved a morphed passport image, calling it a “crime against the nation.” Sarma also claimed attempts were being made to influence Assam elections through such narratives.
The Chief Minister confirmed that his wife has filed a complaint against Khera and warned that legal action will follow, calling the allegations a punishable offence.
Sarma further criticised Congress for running smear campaigns, adding that such tactics would be countered legally. Meanwhile, Congress has alleged that his wife holds multiple foreign passports and owns properties in Dubai.
