Amit Shah Targets Congress, Pitches BJP as Protector of Assam’s Identity

Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a strong attack on the Congress while addressing an election rally in Patharkandi, Sribhumi district.

He said only the BJP can stop illegal infiltration and protect Assam’s cultural identity, adding that identified infiltrators would be removed if the party returns to power. Shah claimed that with BJP-led governments in Assam, West Bengal, and Tripura, infiltration would be fully controlled.

Accusing Congress of “vote bank politics,” he alleged that illegal migrants were taking jobs and benefits meant for locals. He also blamed past Congress governments for weakening laws on illegal immigration and criticised their opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Taking a swipe at Rahul Gandhi, Shah said Congress leadership has declined and vowed that BJP would not allow Assam to become infiltration-prone. He urged voters to support BJP to safeguard the state’s land, identity, and economy.
