‘Power of Vote’ Programme at Dispur College Promotes Voter Awareness

Ahead of the April 9 polls, the Kamrup (Metro) district administration organised a voter awareness event titled “Power of Vote” at Dispur College in Guwahati.

Held under the Election Commission of India’s SVEEP initiative, the programme aimed to motivate young and first-time voters through creative outreach.

Principal Dr. Nabajyoti Bora highlighted voting as a vital civic duty, while Assistant Commissioner Richi Bandana Gogoi stressed the importance of engaging youth through innovative methods.

The event’s highlight was a mime performance by Nirbak, directed by Minangk Deka, which effectively conveyed the significance of voting and drew strong student participation.

Assam will vote on April 9, with counting scheduled for May 4.
