Assam Ranks Among Top States in Rooftop Solar Growth

Assam has installed around 80,000 rooftop solar systems, ranking 8th in India and nearing 6th place, according to Assam Power Distribution Company Limited.

While solar adoption is rising under PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, it is causing financial pressure on APDCL due to higher power purchase costs during non-solar hours.

To boost adoption, loans are now available through major banks, while infrastructure funding challenges were also raised by Assam Electricity Grid Corporation Limited.
