AASU Slams Marmita Mitra Over Zubeen Garg Song Rendition, Seeks Apology

All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) president Utpal Sarma criticised singer Marmita Mitra for allegedly distorting songs of Zubeen Garg during Bihu performances, calling it unacceptable. He warned against altering works of cultural icons like Bhupen Hazarika, Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, and Bishnu Rabha.

Sarma demanded a public apology, noting that this Rongali Bihu is emotionally significant as the first without Zubeen Garg. The issue has intensified, with an FIR already filed against Mitra at Dispur Police Station.
