Tiger Body Parts Trade Accused Arrested Near Kaziranga

A man accused of illegally trading Royal Bengal Tiger body parts has been arrested near Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve after months in hiding.

The accused, Ratnakanta Pegu (41) from Biswanath district, was arrested on April 18 based on intelligence inputs in connection with a wildlife offence case.

Officials said he had been absconding since November 2025 and is a repeat offender, with links to rhino poaching cases between 2019 and 2024. Investigation is ongoing.
