BJP Likely to Continue Coalition Government With AGP and BPF in Assam

Despite winning an absolute majority on its own in the 2026 Assam Assembly elections, the BJP is likely to continue its coalition government with NDA allies AGP and BPF. Party sources said both regional allies may get two Cabinet berths each in the new government.

The NDA secured 102 seats in the 126-member Assembly, with the BJP winning 82 seats and AGP and BPF winning 10 seats each.

Sources said the new ministry may initially remain small and could be expanded later. Meetings of the NDA legislature parties are expected before the swearing-in ceremony to finalise leadership and Cabinet formation.
