AASU Urges New Assam Government to Prioritise Indigenous Identity Issues

The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has urged the new Assam Government to make the protection of indigenous identity and existence its top priority. AASU president Utpal Sarma said the people of Assam have been fighting for their identity for the past 50 years.

He stressed that full implementation of the Assam Accord, proper re-examination of the NRC, and correction of the voters’ list are essential to safeguard the rights of indigenous people.
