BSF Begins Border Fencing Work Along Sensitive India-Bangladesh Corridor

Border Security Force has started fencing work along sensitive stretches of the India-Bangladesh border near the Siliguri corridor after authorities handed over nearly 27 km of land for the project.
The initiative is expected to strengthen border security and help curb illegal infiltration, smuggling and cross-border movement affecting Northeastern states, including Assam.
Officials said the new fencing will improve surveillance, coordination between security agencies and faster response to infiltration alerts. The Centre has also been pushing smart fencing, floodlighting and advanced monitoring systems across border areas.
