Assam Pushes PNG, CNG Expansion Amid Global Fuel Crisis

The Assam government has accelerated the expansion of PNG and CNG connections across the state amid the global fuel crisis caused by the West Asia conflict. Urban bodies have been directed to approve CGD permissions within 24 hours, while companies have been allowed round-the-clock work to speed up infrastructure development.
Assam Gas Company Limited has achieved around 84 new PNG connections per day against a target of 100 and has completed nearly 70,000 connections in six Upper Assam districts. In Guwahati, Purba Bharati Gas Pvt. Ltd. has completed 1,090 connections and aims to reach 6,000 by June 30.
Officials said PNG will cost nearly half of LPG prices, while monitoring committees have been formed statewide to ensure timely implementation and consumer outreach.
