Minor Girl Recovered, Accused Detained in Hojai Kidnapping Case

Hojai: A 16-year-old girl from the Barpukhuri area of Hojai district, who had been missing since last Sunday, was recovered by Hojai Police following a complaint filed by her family.

Police launched an investigation after allegations that the Class X student had been lured away by a young man. During the operation, police traced the girl and detained the accused, identified as Manoj Harijan of Kumarakata.

The accused was produced before the Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Sankardev Nagar, Hojai, on Thursday. Police said the investigation is ongoing, while several social organisations have called for a fair and thorough probe. Authorities have also urged the public to maintain peace and avoid speculation.
