Brahmaputra Erosion Threatens 50-Year-Old Mosque in Biswanath

Biswanath: Severe erosion by the Brahmaputra River has brought a nearly 50-year-old mosque in Kalakati village under threat, causing concern among local residents. Villagers said the river has moved dangerously close to the mosque and the embankment, increasing the risk to nearby homes, roads and other infrastructure.

Residents alleged that despite repeated anti-erosion projects over the years, no permanent solution has been implemented. They have urged the government to take immediate and scientific measures to control erosion and protect the area from further land loss during the monsoon season.
