Floods and Erosion Leave Nine Families Homeless in Jonai

Jonai: Heavy rainfall in the Jonai region and adjoining Arunachal Pradesh has triggered floods and severe riverbank erosion, leaving nine families homeless in the Galighat area. Several houses were damaged by the swelling Depi River, forcing affected families to take shelter in temporary huts on a river embankment.
Floodwaters from the Sille River have also inundated parts of Malbhug and Shantipur. Jonai MLA Bhuban Pegu visited the affected areas and directed officials to provide relief materials and rehabilitation support. No loss of life has been reported so far.
