JJM Faces Scrutiny in Assam Assembly Over Non-Functional Schemes and Water Quality

Guwahati: The implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) came under sharp criticism in the Assam Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, with MLAs alleging non-functional water supply schemes, inaccurate official records and arsenic-contaminated drinking water in several areas.
Public Health Engineering Minister Krishnendu Paul assured the House that complaints would be investigated, damaged infrastructure repaired and safe drinking water ensured. The government also urged MLAs to submit detailed reports on non-functional schemes for prompt corrective action.
