Assam Health Minister Directs Stronger Food Safety Enforcement

Guwahati, Assam: Assam Health Minister Ashok Singhal on Wednesday directed officials to strengthen the state’s food safety mechanism during a review meeting at Janata Bhawan.

He instructed the Food Safety Department to intensify inspections of markets, hotels, restaurants and food businesses, strengthen food sample testing, and ensure strict enforcement of the Food Safety Act. The meeting also reviewed blood transfusion services, drug control and the birth and death registration system.
