Questions Raised Over Assam’s Shale Gas Exploration

Guwahati: Questions have been raised over the status of shale gas exploration in Assam, with allegations that ONGC has not disclosed progress or responded to RTI queries. Although shale gas reserves were identified in several parts of Assam over a decade ago, there has been little public information on the project.

Critics have urged greater transparency, while ONGC has yet to issue a detailed response regarding the exploration’s current status.
