Assam Has Over 91,000 D-Voters, CM Informs Assembly

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed the Assembly on Monday that 91,385 D-voters (Doubtful Voters) remain on the state’s electoral rolls. He said Sonitpur has the highest number of D-voters, followed by Barpeta, Udalguri, and Nagaon.

The Chief Minister added that since the D-voter category was introduced in 1997, 56,728 people have been declared foreigners by Foreigners’ Tribunals, while 65,171 have been recognised as Indian citizens. He also stated that 31,789 declared foreigners have been expelled from the state.
