Mystery Death of Student Triggers Protest in Lakhimpur

Lakhimpur: Tension erupted outside the Bangalmora Police Outpost after the family of BA first-year student Nilutpal Mili alleged that his body was sent for postmortem without their knowledge following his mysterious death during a picnic near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.

The family suspects foul play and demanded a fair investigation, while protesters accused the police of failing to inform the victim’s relatives before conducting the postmortem. Police have detained the five youths who accompanied Mili to reconstruct the sequence of events. The exact cause of death remains under investigation.
