Assam Records Over 6 Crore Tourist Arrivals in 10 Years

Guwahati: Assam welcomed more than 6.04 crore tourists, including 2.41 lakh foreign visitors, between 2016-17 and 2025-26, Tourism Minister Ajanta Neog informed the Assembly on Tuesday.

The highest tourist footfall was recorded in 2022-23 with over 98.31 lakh visitors, while arrivals dropped sharply during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020-21. The minister said the state is focusing on eco-tourism and sustainable tourism development, supported by improved law and order and a new five-year tourism master plan.
