Post-Flood Crisis Deepens in Upper Assam as Central Team Visits Sivasagar

Sivasagar, July 28: While floodwaters are receding across Upper Assam, thousands of families continue to face severe hardship due to waterlogged homes, thick silt, damaged property and sanitation concerns. A five-member Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) visited Sivasagar to assess the extensive flood damage.

Officials said over 4 lakh people in 385 villages of Sivasagar were affected, with 31 deaths reported in the district and 68 flood-related deaths across Assam. As relief and restoration efforts continue, NGOs, volunteers and local organisations are also providing food, drinking water and other essential supplies to affected families.
