POCSO Accused Detained by Locals in Guwahati’s Beltola

A young man identified as Faruk Abdullah was detained by local residents at Beltola Tiniali in Guwahati on Monday morning after he was allegedly found to be absconding in connection with a POCSO case registered in Barpeta. Locals reportedly informed police after several ATM cards were allegedly recovered from his possession, raising suspicion about his activities.
A team from Hatigaon Police Station subsequently took Abdullah into custody and brought him in for questioning. Police said they are verifying the circumstances of his presence in Guwahati and examining the ATM cards, while also looking into a possible cybercrime connection. His alleged involvement in any such activity has not been established, and further investigation is underway.
