Assam Secretariat Employee Arrested in Alleged Liquor Licence Bribery Case

Guwahati: Garchuk Police arrested Devolina Patowary, an employee of the Assam Secretariat’s Housing and Urban Development Department, on Thursday for allegedly accepting bribes in connection with liquor shop licences.

Police alleged that Patowary had collected money from several people promising to facilitate liquor licences. She was reportedly caught while accepting a bribe and taken into custody for questioning. An investigation is underway to determine whether others were involved.
