Woman Dies After Unidentified Bite in Sepon

Sepon: A woman identified as Rukmoni Ghatuwar from Sepon was taken to Demow Model Hospital-CUM-CHC after suffering an unidentified bite while sleeping at her home around 11:30 pm on Thursday. According to Dr Surajit Giri, an anaesthesia and snakebite specialist at the hospital, her family found no snake or other visible cause after searching the room. She was admitted for observation after receiving two injections and remained conscious and able to communicate with medical staff until around 2:30 am.

Rukmoni died on Friday morning. Dr Giri said the medical team found no clinical signs of snakebite and observed only a single puncture mark, leading them to suspect an insect bite. He also said reports describing the incident as a confirmed snakebite were inaccurate. The family was advised to conduct a post-mortem examination but declined, according to the doctor.
