ABSU Warns of Renewed Bodoland Statehood Demand Over Bodo Inscription Removal

Kokrajhar: The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) on Friday condemned the removal of the Bodo-language inscription from the Assam Legislative Assembly building, alleging discrimination against the language and Bodo identity. ABSU President Kwrwmdao Wary warned that continued neglect and disrespect could revive the demand for a separate Bodoland state. Several organisations also staged a protest outside the BTC Secretariat and burnt an effigy of Assembly Speaker Ranjeet Kumar Dass.
However, Assam Legislative Assembly sources clarified that the Bodo and English inscriptions had been temporarily removed for maintenance and would be reinstalled after the work was completed. ABSU urged the Assembly to ensure equal recognition for the Bodo language and respect the community’s linguistic and constitutional rights.
