NIA Files Chargesheet Against Five in ULFA (I) IED Case

Guwahati: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against five accused, including ULFA (I) chief Paresh Baruah, in connection with the recovery of an IED on Motilal Nehru Road in Panbazar on August 15, 2024. The chargesheet was submitted before the NIA Special Court in Guwahati.
The accused have been charged under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosive Substances Act. The case concerns an alleged conspiracy to carry out multiple IED blasts across Assam to spread terror and threaten India’s security and sovereignty.
