8th Pay Commission Recommendations Expected by May 2027

New Delhi: The 8th Central Pay Commission, chaired by Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai, is expected to submit its recommendations on salaries, allowances and pension benefits for central government employees and pensioners by May 2027. The commission was constituted on November 3, 2025, and has 18 months to complete its work.

Key issues under consideration include the fitment factor, revision of basic pay, pension reforms and allowance restructuring. The commission is consulting employee representatives and various organisations across the country, with its next round of discussions scheduled in Mumbai from October 22. However, the implementation date, salary hike and payment of arrears remain unconfirmed.
