Indian Railways to Launch Door-to-Door Parcel Delivery Service in Eight Major Cities

New Delhi: Indian Railways is preparing to introduce a new door-to-door parcel delivery service, ‘Ghar Se Ghar Tak’, across eight major cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Pune. The upcoming Rail Parcel App will allow customers to book doorstep pickups, make digital payments and track shipments without visiting railway parcel counters.

Under the initiative, logistics service partners will manage doorstep collection and delivery, while Indian Railways will handle transportation between cities. Customers will be able to book parcels up to 15 days in advance, with bookings closing 24 hours before train departure. The service aims to simplify parcel transportation and will eventually expand to smaller cities. However, the official launch date is yet to be confirmed.
