Over 10,000 IDBI Bank Employees Stage Nationwide Strike Against Privatisation

New Delhi: More than 10,000 IDBI Bank employees and officers across over 2,000 branches participated in a two-day nationwide strike on November 2 and 3, opposing the proposed privatisation of the bank. The protest was organised by the United Forum of IDBI Officers and Employees (UFIOE), which demanded the cancellation of the proposed disinvestment.
The forum raised concerns over the proposed sale to Canada-based Fairfax Group, questioning the bank’s valuation and transparency of the process. Highlighting the bank’s financial recovery through public investment and employee efforts, UFIOE demanded an independent review of the transaction and warned of further agitation if its concerns remained unaddressed.
