AASU Demands Uniform Action on Illegal Migrants Across India
The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) has urged the Central Government to maintain a uniform approach in detecting and deporting Bangladesh nationals and Rohingyas across all States. This follows Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s directive to Delhi Police to launch a two-month drive against illegal migrants in the National Capital Region (NCR). AASU chief adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya criticized the differing policies for Delhi and Assam, arguing that Assam faces a more severe demographic threat due to illegal migration. The student body demanded a similar crackdown in Assam to safeguard national security and indigenous identity.
