AASU General Secretary Resigns Amid Harassment Allegations

Sankor Jyoti Baruah resigned as General Secretary of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) following allegations of sexual and mental harassment by a law student. In a social media post, Baruah stated that his resignation was voluntary. The police have registered a case against him under multiple sections of the IPC, and he secured anticipatory bail on September 7. The AASU leadership had advised Baruah to step down amid the controversy.
