AASU Urges ECI to Prepare Error-Free Voters’ List in Assam

AASU chief adviser Samujjal Bhattacharya urged the Election Commission to ensure Assam’s voters’ list excludes foreign nationals. He said Assam’s situation differs from other states, as many foreigners’ names are included in electoral rolls. Bhattacharya recalled the Assam Movement, sparked by faulty rolls in 1983, and stressed the need to revise lists using the NRC. He warned that without proper modalities, the revision exercise would be meaningless.
