AATSU Supports Assam Government’s Anti-Encroachment Drive, Calls for Further Action

The All-Assam Tribal Students Union (AATSU) has expressed support for the Assam government’s action against illegal encroachers in the tribal areas of Sonapur and South Kamrup. AATSU urged political parties and social organizations not to politicize the issue and called for swift follow-up evictions in tribal belts and blocks as per the Gauhati High Court’s order. The union also demanded the repeal of the 2021 cabinet decision allowing non-tribal residents in these areas and the removal of the ASCRDA Act, 2017, to protect tribal lands.
