Afghan Student’s Visa Woes Halt Higher Studies at AAU

Afghan student Salim Rehmani, who completed a master’s at Assam Agricultural University (AAU), faces uncertainty as his visa extension was rejected. Rehmani, hoping to pursue a PhD, has been asked to leave by the university due to his expired visa. Currently, he resides in a university hostel. The Jorhat administration has informed the FRRO in Kolkata, whose decision will determine his stay or deportation. If the response is negative, a notice will be issued, and the Central government will be notified.
