African Swine Fever Outbreak Triggers Emergency Measures in Tinsukia

A major African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak in Upper Assam has led authorities to declare Ouguri village in Tinsukia district as the epicentre of the infection and launch emergency containment measures.
A one-kilometre radius around the village has been marked as an infected zone, while areas within 10 kilometres are under strict surveillance. Veterinary teams have been deployed to monitor the situation.
Authorities have also carried out a large-scale culling operation and imposed a 30-day ban on the sale and transport of pigs and pork products across the Doomdooma co-district to prevent further spread of the disease.
