AFSPA Extended for Six Months in Parts of Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has extended the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958, for another six months from October 1, 2026, in specified areas of Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh following a review of the law-and-order situation.

In Manipur, the extension covers the state except areas under 13 police stations across five districts. In Nagaland, nine districts and areas under 21 police stations in five other districts have been declared disturbed areas. The notification also covers Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts of Arunachal Pradesh, along with areas under three police stations in Namsai district.
