AGP Prepares for Panchayat Polls, Focuses on Symbol-Free Elections

AGP chief Atul Bora announced plans to form committees to oversee upcoming Panchayat and Autonomous Council elections.

Bora highlighted that Panchayat elections at the Gaon Panchayat level would be symbol-free due to an amended act. Party symbols will still be used for Anchalik Panchayat and Zila Parishad levels. Discussions with the Chief Minister on technicalities are ongoing.

He also addressed implementing the Biplab Sarma Committee report, urging the Centre to address relevant issues. The AGP will centrally observe Swahid Diwas on December 10, honoring Assam Agitation martyr Khargeshwar Talukdar.
