AGP Restructures Bongaigaon Leadership After Mass Resignations Ahead of By-Polls

Facing a setback before the November 13 by-polls, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has restructured its Bongaigaon district committee after 36 leaders, including the district president and secretary, resigned over the potential candidacy of Phani Bhushan Choudhury’s wife. The AGP appointed Ashok Deb as the new district president and Palash Shastri as the new general secretary to stabilize the party. The Bongaigaon seat, a traditional AGP stronghold, has been left by the BJP for its NDA partner.
