AGP to Decide Seat-Sharing with BJP Soon, Reaffirms Assam Accord Push

The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) said it will soon finalise seat-sharing with ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after reviewing all factors. AGP president Atul Bora said national-party support is crucial for development and expressed confidence that remaining clauses of the Assam Accord will be implemented in 2026.
He added the party is strengthening its base ahead of the 2026 Assembly polls, with workers active at the grassroots, especially in AGP strongholds. On ST status for six communities, Bora said AGP supports the demand while safeguarding existing ST interests. AGP working president Keshab Mahanta said the state aims to complete pending Assam Accord work in 2026.
