AGP to Move Supreme Court Against Centre’s Immigrant Order

AGP announced it will file a writ petition in the Supreme Court seeking Assam’s exemption from the Centre’s new immigrant directive. The party said the order violates the spirit of the Assam Accord and vowed strong opposition. The directive allows non-Muslim immigrants from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan entering India till December 31, 2024, to stay without valid documents. AGP, part of the BJP-led government, had earlier challenged the CAA in court as well.
