AGP to Strengthen Regionalism for 2026 Assam Polls

The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) aims to showcase its strength in the 2026 Assembly elections, drawing inspiration from a strong regional sentiment. AGP President and Cabinet Minister Atul Bora reaffirmed the party’s commitment to the development of Assam’s people, irrespective of ethnicity, language, or religion.

During the party’s 40th foundation day, Bora defended AGP’s alliance with a national party, asserting they remain true to their core values. He criticized new regional parties, calling them a platform for self-serving individuals backed by the Congress. Bora also highlighted achievements, including efforts to implement Clause 6 of the Assam Accord and the recognition of Assamese as a classical language. Additionally, AGP will push for Scheduled Tribe status for six communities in Parliament.
