AIUDF Anticipates Political Shift in Assam, Eyes Government Formation by 2031 Amidst BJP-Congress Collaborations

Karim Uddin Barbhuiya, an MLA and General Secretary of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), expressed concerns about purported collaborations between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress in Assam. Barbhuiya outlined his party’s aspirations, aiming to form the government in Assam in 2026 with regional party support and predicting a significant political shift by 2031. He attributed the decline in Congress’s influence to alleged connections with the BJP and revealed plans for Congress MLAs to defect to AIUDF before the 2026 assembly polls. Barbhuiya anticipates a reshaping of Assam’s political landscape, emphasizing the need for change and asserting AIUDF’s role as a potential main opposition party in the state.
