AIUDF Criticizes Assam CM’s Proposed Laws on Love Jihad and Land Jihad
AIUDF leader Ashraful Hussain criticized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s plan to introduce laws against Love Jihad and Land Jihad, accusing him of promoting a communal agenda. Sarma announced harsher penalties for Love Jihad, including life imprisonment, and required government approval for interfaith land transfers. Hussain argued these terms push a communal divide and uplift Hindutva. Sarma also proposed giving tea garden laborers land rights and implementing a domicile policy for government jobs to protect Assam’s indigenous population.
