AIUDF to Contest One Seat in Assam By-Elections

AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal announced that his party will contest only in the Samaguri Assembly constituency in the November 13 by-elections, reversing an earlier plan to contest three seats. Ajmal lost to Congress’s Rakibul Hussain in the Lok Sabha elections, with Hussain’s son, Tanjil, now representing Congress. The BJP is campaigning to unseat Congress in Samaguri, with Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah claiming strong support for the BJP. State BJP chief Bhabesh Kalita expressed confidence in winning all five by-election seats.
