Ajit Barua Birth Centenary Celebrations to Conclude at Dispur College

GUWAHATI: The year-long birth centenary celebrations of renowned Assamese literary figure Ajit Barua will conclude on August 19 at Dispur College, with the closing programme scheduled to begin at 3 pm. The event is being organised by the Ajit Barua Anuragi Samaj in collaboration with Dispur College.

Physicist, writer and former Gauhati University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Amarjyoti Choudhury will attend the ceremony as Guest of Honour, while noted critic and former Head of the Department of English at Dibrugarh University, Dr. Pona Mahanta, will deliver the 11th Annual Ajit Barua Memorial Lecture 2026. The programme will also feature performances by elocutionist and theatre personality Abani Bora and Meldy Patgiri.
