AJP unveils 25-point manifesto for Assam polls, stresses ‘Assam First’ agenda

The Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) has released its Election Manifesto 2026, outlining a 25-point agenda centred on its “Assam First” philosophy.
Party president Lurinjyoti Gogoi said full implementation of the Assam Accord remains the core focus. The party has promised to repeal the CAA in Assam, review the NRC process, seal the India-Bangladesh border, and ensure an electoral roll free of illegal immigrants.
On the economic front, AJP proposed outcome-based budgeting, higher resource royalties, and greater state autonomy. The manifesto also highlights land reforms, MSME support, youth employment, and legal guarantees for minimum support prices for farmers.
Key social commitments include better healthcare, education access, improved conditions for tea garden workers, women’s empowerment, and flood management.
Positioning itself as a regional alternative to the Bharatiya Janata Party and Indian National Congress, the AJP emphasised protection of Assam’s land, culture, and indigenous identity.
