Amit Shah Urges Speedy Implementation of New Criminal Laws in Northeast

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in a review meeting in Guwahati, emphasized full implementation of new criminal laws in northeastern states to improve law and order. He warned against political interference in cases of terrorism, mob lynching, and organized crime. Shah stressed training of all police personnel, regular review meetings by state leaders, and adoption of e-Sakshya and Trial in Absentia provisions. He urged a shift in police focus from insurgency to citizen protection. A book on standard procedures for the new laws was also released. Shah concluded his three-day regional visit.
